Well I can’t believe it but as of tomorrow I will officially be a graduate of The Second City. It seems like just yesterday I started this blog and declared that I had sold my soul to comedy and was going to firmly plant myself inside the church of Second City until the comedy Gods found me, and oh boy did they find me. This last year and 1/2 has been filled with so much laughter and amazing memories that I know I will look back on these days as some of my very favorite in my artistic career.
It hasn’t been all fun and games. This comedy stuff is serious business and I can honestly say nothing has challenged me more than Improv. Sometimes I really wanted to quit, but I pushed back the fear and kept on going and I am so glad I did because one day I woke up and realized I was pretty good at it. In fact I’m starting to get the suspicion that Improv has strengthened my artistic muscles in ways I haven’t even begun to see the full benefit of yet and I will forever be grateful to all my amazing instructors and fellow classmates for that.
I would be truly melancholy at this moment if it weren’t for the fact that its not fully over yet. In fact, the best is yet to come because now my fellow Con 5 grads and I (notoriously known as The Pregnant Unicorns) get to enjoy the fruits of our labors. For the last 4 months my awesome Improv family of 8 have been pouring our little comedy hearts out to put together the best show we possibly could and now that show, Apocalypse Now Or Later, will have an 8 week run on the Second City stage at 8 pm Monday nights starting March 4th. I couldn’t be more proud of what we created together and truly hope everyone will come out and see it if you can because it is not one to be missed.
I will be changing my FB profile pic for the duration of my show run as a reminder to come out and see us. I would love it if you would like our FB page so you can follow us on the journey. Tickets are available now just click here
And in the meantime here’s a silly little teaser we put together (it’s a parody of those old Calvin Klein commercials while at the same time a glimpse into the show that you’ll only understand if you come, so come!).
